This Mindset Shift Started My Web Design Journey

When starting my Squarespace web design journey over 5 years ago, my only goal was to create my own website, a little slice of the internet, and update my blog semi consistently.

It all started with reframing a question my inner critic and perfectionist loves to throw at me.

Why?

Why would you try that?

You won’t be any good.

Why do you think can do that?

You have no idea what you’re doing!

Why would you take a risk or make a leap?

You don’t know what will happen! Come stay comfy and cozy in your comfort zone.

The Mindset Shift

I tweaked the question to Why not?

Why not try something new?

Why not create that project?

Why not experiment with my creativity in a new and unexpected way?

Learning something new is always a good idea.

I’ve learned so many new things that have helped me sometimes in unexpected ways.

Even if each of these new skills or talents doesn’t turn into a new career it helps me hone in on my unique talents and interests.

I think it is great to continue having a student mindset in life where being curious and wanting to learn are encouraged.

The opposite is growing stagnant and bored. Who wants that?

Now that you know about my mindset shift I would love to here about yours.

What questions have you reframed lately?
