I've always loved making collages out of magazine clippings and other random objects and pretty paper with fun designs.

It was very satisfying to me to put things together that seemed like opposites or to match colors from different pictures. Iโ€™ve always had a designer eye!

Since everyone loves a mood board Iโ€™m going to talk about how to translate your mood board into branding for your website.

If you want to learn how to make a successful mood board check out the previous blog post.

3 Steps To Use A Mood Board

Pick Your Colors

These will be the colors that keep showing up in your mood board. They don't have to all be in the mood board but a few should.

These colors will be on your website in text, graphics and photos.

Search For Visuals

These should have the same colors as your mood board or a similar feeling to the photos or graphics you chose. These should also relate to what you do with similar colors.

Have keywords to search for photos. Use similar photos or images to the ones you found while doing your research.

Download or save any photos you think will work.

Pro tip: it's okay to save a few extra just in case you don't like the way some of them look when uploaded to your website.

    Add Colors

Hereโ€™s how to add your colors to your Squarespace website.

Navigating from your main Squarespace web page click Design, then Site Styles, then Colors. You will see the colors currently chosen for your website.

You can easily edit the color palette to match your new colors from your mood board.

Make sure that two of your colors are high contrast. The easiest example of this is black and white. You can choose a different shade or a different color completely.

The most important thing is making sure that these colors make it easy on the eye to read the text on your website.
