How to Attract Your Ideal Clients
I'm going to let you in on a little secret: I'm a web designer, and I don't have tons of clients lined up. You might think that's strange, but there's a reason for it.
I don't want to just attract everyone—I want to attract the right ones. And in order to do that, you need to take specific steps. Here are five ways you can attract your ideal clients.
Don’t Chase Clients
The best way to attract clients is not by chasing them. You can't force someone to be your client, but you can open the door for them and make it easy for them to walk through.
Your job isn't just to sell yourself, it's also about helping people solve their problems and giving them value.
Make sure you're available when they need you and ready with advice that adds value. They'll come back for more because they like how things work out when they work with you.
Show Up Online
There are many ways to show up online:
Social media: You can use Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok or LinkedIn to promote your business, share valuable content and engage with customers. Part of my content marketing strategy is creating content for one platform and repurposing it by reposting to other platforms.
Blogging: If you’re a writer or can outsource the writing, blogging is another way to attract clients. Your blog posts can include helpful advice like “5 Ways To Upgrade Your Website!” or “7 Tips To Get Rid Of Online FOMO!" Keep in mind that blogging requires time and effort, so only write when you have something valuable to say (or hire someone else).
Podcasting: If you enjoy talking then podcasting may be the option for you! The best podcasts provide interesting information in an easy format that makes it easy for people to consume on-the-go without getting distracted by their surroundings.
Talk About Your Offers
To attract clients, you need to talk about your offers. Start by talking about your offers at events. This could be an event you attend or one you organize yourself. If people hear you speak at the event, they may contact you afterward and ask for more information on a particular service or product.
Make sure to also talk about your offers in social media posts. In addition, sharing articles from other sources that discuss topics related to what your business does is another way to reach both current customers and potential ones through social media channels like Twitter or Facebook!
Tell Stories
People want to do business with other people not a faceless business with no personality. So make sure to add and share relevant stories online so people know that you are a person who’s made mistakes.
The most impactful stories are usually the most embarrassing or where you made a mistake so don’t be afraid of sharing those. Also if something is a sensitive topic you don’t have to share that! Choose to share what you’re comfortable with your friends on the internet knowing about.
A story that is interesting to most people is your founder story or the long and winding path to how you got where you are today. Most people’s journeys aren’t a straight line so instead of shying away from this fact, embrace it! Lots of people can relate to this and will be excited to learn more about you.
No one will know what you do if they can't find you.
The easiest way to attract clients is to make sure they can find you. A website is the most effective way of promoting your business, because it's visible whenever someone searches for what you do online.
This means that if they're looking for a wedding photographer or graphic designer, it will come up at the top of their search results and make them think “Oh, that's who I want!” (Note: if you already have a business name, check whether it's available as a domain name first—it can be tricky finding one that is.)
Once people are on your site, aim to engage them with content that keeps them there for longer than two seconds before clicking off again in boredom/frustration/boredom/frustration.
When writing about yourself or your skillset, try not to sound like someone who just learned how to write yesterday; try instead for clarity and brevity without boring the pants off anyone reading it!
Use Your Website
Creating a website that showcases how amazing you are is the first step. Start with a professional looking template, easy to use and navigate, having a good call to action and making sure it is mobile optimized and responsive will increase your chances of attracting clients.
Make sure to show off your products and services, showcase testimonials and transformations from your process.
