3 Ways Business Owners Get Stuck

Momentum in your business is so important. Have you tried to start something when you haven’t been building and working on it consistently? It’s really hard. I’ve tried it before after taking a break from a project.

Here are a few business tasks that can make entrepreneurs feel stuck and my solutions to release these problems and move forward.

Picking a Name

Whether it’s choosing a name for our business, next project or service this can stop a lot of people before they even start.

When I was just starting out and creating my business it felt like the most important decision ever! Thankfully it’s not.

I do have a handy site for anyone still struggling to brainstorm a business name. Try the free business generator from Looka. It’s pretty easy to use and I’ve had a lot of fun using it for myself and others.

First enter in your keywords or choose from industry and abstract ideas to get started. Scroll through the results and narrow down by type like traditional vs invented names. You can get lost in all the possibilities! They also have some free branding resources too.

This is what I used to name Redesignia. I’m glad I found this name because my other possible name would have been harder for people to pronounce, spell and would’ve been a pain in the long run.

Choosing Brand and Design Elements

For anything related to branding whether you are DIYing or working with a brand strategist you should start with a mood board.

To summarize some information from my previous posts about mood boards the three main steps to creating a mood board are researching, editing and gathering.

Use your mood board choose your colors, pick your stock photos and graphics and add these colors to your Squarespace website.

Pick elements, color, fonts and photos, guided by your mood board and your ideal client. This can be tricky if you feel like the branding should represent you.

Remember you aren’t stuck with this branding forever! You can do a full rebrand or tweak these elements whenever you want!

Choosing Your Website Type

To easily figure out what type of website you need right now just answer these questions.

  1. Do you want a fully built out site with multiple pages covering your products, services, offers and more? Do you have a lot of information you want people to know about you and your business when they land on your site?

  2. Or do you want a one page website filled with your business details? Are you starting from scratch or a new venture and you need something quick to set up which could expand later?

If you answered yes to the first set of questions you’ll want to aim for a full website with all the bells and whistles.

If the second set of questions is more like you- start out with a one page or landing page site.
