4 Website Trends to Try in 2023

Following trends can be fun but expensive in the fashion and beauty space. I’ve bought so many clothes and shoes over the years that I thought I’d love but didn’t work out usually because they were an impulse buy.

Some of these pieces were trending at the time and once the trend was over I got rid of them. One example is these super high heel, floral Jeffrey Campbell platform shoes I couldn’t walk in even though they looked cool. Thankfully for web design you can try out new trends without paying extra for them.

If you’re ready to give your website a fresh new look in 2023 I've got four exciting website trends that anyone can try, regardless of their web design experience. And the best part? These trends are super easy to implement on Squarespace, so you can get creative without the stress.

Maximalism

Let's start with maximalism. Remember when every website seemed to follow the minimalistic and simple trend? Well, things are changing, my friend. Maximalism is taking the stage, and it's all about making a bold statement.

This trend actually originated in the fashion industry and has now made its way into various sectors, including web design. So don't be afraid to let your creativity run wild and bring some vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and eye-catching designs to your site. For web design inspiration check out some of my favorite sites.

I’m using the Redesignia website for examples and this is the closest I come to being a maximalist. I really loved this mockup on top of a stock photo of this rich, jewel toned fabric. My personal style runs more minimal but if you want your website to stand out in a sea of minimalism try out maximalism.

Link in bio

Next up, we have the "link in bio" trend. If you've been active on social media lately, you've probably noticed that many accounts feature a link in their bio or profile. This link leads to a mobile-optimized landing page that houses all the important links for you and your brand.

Now, there are plenty of apps out there that can help you create a link in bio page, but what if you want to be in control of the design without paying extra money? Well, my friend, you can create your very own link in bio page right on your Squarespace site. How cool is that?

I learned how to create a custom link in bio page on Squarespace and had to share the knowledge. Make sure to check out how to create your own mobile optimized landing page in Squarespace on the Redesignia blog.

Rounded Corners

Nowadays, rounded corners are everywhere in web design - from buttons to photos. You see, rounded corners give your images and objects a friendly and approachable vibe, making your website more inviting for users.

It's a little detail that can make a big difference, so don't shy away from adding those lovely curves to your site.

If you navigate through Redesignia you’ll see rounded corners everywhere. Mostly I like having rounded corners on buttons and images. Learn some more web design secrets to improve your site.

For me this works for my website design and brand strategy and is a trend second. I’m not the type of person who blindly follows trends, usually.

Simple Shapes

Last but not least, let's talk about simple shapes. Alongside rounded corners, incorporating simple shapes into your website is a trend worth trying. And you'll be thrilled to know that Squarespace has recently added a new feature that allows you to play around with shapes right inside your site.

No more creating, saving, and uploading - it's now as easy as a few clicks. So go ahead and let those shapes express your unique style and personality.

Using simple shapes help categorize your website sections and make it easier on your visitors eye. The contrast between your background and text should always be high for easy reading.

This is what makes it so easy to read the white text on the black square background on the Redesignia services page. Ready to break some web design rules? Check out some “rules” you can definitely ignore.

Isn't it exciting to think about all the possibilities for your website in 2023? Whether you're a seasoned web designer or completely new to the world of website creation, these trends are within your reach on Squarespace.

So, my friend, grab a cup of your favorite beverage and start exploring these trends. Let your creativity shine and make your website a true reflection of who you are.
