Use These 3 Secrets To Improve Your Website

Neutral colors in front of a white background in a home office

There are so many things you don’t realize you need or needed to know before creating a website from scratch.

Until you try something yourself you don’t realize the work and moving parts that are happening in the background.

Websites are a great example of this. Even though I’ve seen thousands of websites I didn’t know I needed to write my own copy and find my own images.

Don’t worry if these things completely slipped your mind. Here are three secrets to improve your website.

Not sure what to write?

Do market research

Are you a writer? I’ve always enjoyed writing, except for my one ill-fated journalism class, but many people find it frustrating, time consuming and overwhelming.

That’s assuming they even know what to write about or if they’ve found their ideal audience or client.

So how do you write in an engaging way and speak to your ideal client?

Do market research. If you have an audience just ask them! People love to be asked their opinions especially if they are passionate or confused about the subject.

Ask your audience for any questions they have or to choose between two topics you think they will be interested in. Use any platforms you're active on and learn what your audience really wants to know about.

Not sure what colors to use?

Use a strategy

You can definitely choose colors that you like and that you hope attract the right people to buy from you. There’s a lot more going on underneath the surface of color selection.

I talked about this in a previous blog post about how many colors your brand should have. If you don’t have the time or money to do a full brand strategy then look up the colors that relate to the emotions, mood or feelings you want to evoke in your brand or business.

There’s a reason so many brands and companies use blue. It’s a calming, trustworthy color and they didn’t choose it on accident.

Want to drive traffic and improve SEO?

    Start a blog

This is making all the people who hate writing groan but it’s true.

Search engines love new content and you can use a blog to speak to your ideal audience using keywords to guide them to your website.

Starting a blog can be used in your content marketing strategy.

Split your blog post up into smaller chunks for social media posts.

This can be as easy as creating one blog post a week which generates content for social media or to post on other platforms throughout the week.
